While I was amused and saddened by moments in this film, it wasn't to the extent that I expected. I think it is a film that will personally become more poignant in the future.

It is released here on Thursday, and I'll be recommending it. Thanks for visiting Jessica :-)Andy Bucklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15655573933693289124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2890338907751315894.post-77587457271070002022011-08-23T16:15:25.198+10:002011-08-23T16:15:25.198+10:00I think this is one of those movies which will com...I think this is one of those movies which will come out very differently depending on your own life experiences and situation. It spoke very strongly to me on a number of levels and I cried my way through the entire movie. Perhaps that IS a sign of being sentimental, but not overly imo, because I don't usually cry that much at standard emo content. Perhaps it contributed a bit that I was all alone in the cinema that day. It was devastating. But also a big relief.Jessicahttp://www.thevelvetcafe.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2890338907751315894.post-56612681273287737282011-08-22T09:29:09.315+10:002011-08-22T09:29:09.315+10:00Thanks for reading, Andy. Nice sense of closure or something I guess.Roberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10394045103473759585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2890338907751315894.post-8973971503416257672011-08-22T08:08:45.816+10:002011-08-22T08:08:45.816+10:00@ Robert - Thanks man. I like that you brought attention to the scene where young Oliver declares that "he doesn't want to scream". That's key to understanding Oliver, and the film works as an unravelling of who this guy is, and why!

@ Sam - I don't know if my writing will help, but thanks for the encouragement. I think it is a film I might cherish a little more in time because I have been thinking about it a lot.

@ Toby - I do have to make some changes to my lifestyle. I spend way too much time in front of a screen haha. I have already met some great girls at a cinema; but maybe I need to be a little bit more inventive haha.

@ Bonjour Tristesse - I remember you weren't overly impressed, but it's cute, sweet and often moving - hard to dislike I guess.

@ Anna - Thanks Anna. The dog is so cute. I love romance films that delve into the confusing emotions that stem from finding true love (I guess) and understanding how both feel and making the commitment.

Yes, Laurent and McGregor are super hot. Especially Laurent OMG.Andy Bucklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15655573933693289124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2890338907751315894.post-18676103237769639432011-08-21T23:34:24.064+10:002011-08-21T23:34:24.064+10:00What a lovely review!
