About

Hello everyone, and thank you for stopping by The Film Emporium. With regular updates, I try and cover as much as I can about the world of film. Film is my passion, it's what I love to discuss and write about, and reviewing film has quickly transformed into my life. I started writing regularly on this blog in March 2010, but due to my previous employment, I had limited time to work on it. Since December of 2010 my content (and regular readership) has steeply progressed. I have my friends and regular readers to thank for this, and the ever-present inspiration of my fellow film bloggers.

I am an aspiring film and entertainment journalist and critic. I live in the Inner West suburb of Leichhardt, Sydney and work part-time at my local cinema. I have an Arts degree, majoring in Film Studies, at the University of Sydney, and have recently become a member of the Film Critics Circle of Australia. My knowledge of film has mostly emerged through an ambitious dedication to the medium and self-motivation towards my writing. I have recently become a member of the Graffiti With Punctuation team, a high-profile online film magazine, contributing reviews and features and being the resident festival expert. I have also contributed reviews and articles to An Online Universe, Inner West Lifestyle, Discover Your Connection: KOFFIA Blog and the Official Spanish Film Festival Blog.

Lists/Feature Articles

Throughout The Film Emporium you will find a collection of new release and classic film reviews, extensive festival and awards coverage, up-to-date film news and trailers, film theory essays, lists and general recommendations on what you should be seeing.

I try and review at least two to three new releases each week (and if I give the film 3 1/2 stars or above - I rate on a five star scale - it is recommended viewing in a cinema) so you can keep up to date with what's worth seeing at the cinema. I also throw in some insight on classic film, sometimes focusing on a specific director and working through their body of work.

So that you are left knowing a little bit about me I thought I would list my 10 Favourite Directors: Stanley Kubrick, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Ingmar Bergman, Joel and Ethan Coen, Wes Anderson, Darren Aronofsky and Quentin Tarantino.

I hope that you all enjoy the site. I encourage you to leave comments on my posts if you have any feedback, or if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to email me at andrew.buckle22@gmail.com, or you can contact me through Facebook or Twitter (@buckle22).

Kind regards,

Andy Buckle
