  1. I dunno whether to count Margaret as a 2011 or 2012 release :/ Definitely loved Paquin in it.

God there is so much I haven't seen. Presently my favourite performances are Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Fassy, Anna Paquin, Rachel Weisz, Anne Hathaway and Lizzy Caplan, Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher- all for Bachelorette.

    1. It is a 2011 releases in the U.S but it came out here just a few months back. Paquin is prob my favourite female performance of the year. She is incredible. Good choices. Have not seen Bachelorette, but I have heard about Dunst's performance. I believe she is excellent. I'll check it out if it hits cinemas.

    1. On a re-watch I was much less enthusiastic about BEASTS, but Wallis and Henry are excellent.

    1. Yeah Hedlund was the best thing about ON THE ROAD. Most of the performances were pretty good, I thought. But he shined. Film...not so much :-p You've seen HOLY MOTORS Diana? Lavant is AMAZING. That's acting.

  4. Great list! Jennifer Lawrence was terrific in Hunger Games, wasn't she? I liked that performance almost as much as her role in Winter's Bone.

    1. I really like Jennifer Lawrence. So good in Winter's Bone and in THG she has created another strong heroine we wholeheartedly support.

  5. Hey man, I know I'm a little late here, but I just wanted to say that these are great lists. All my faves are here, along with plenty I need to see. I hope it's a good awards season!

    1. I'm not sure that many of these will figure in the end-of-year awards race, and a few of them are strong performances in average films, but it is rewarding to reflect on the year and pick out so many fine performances already.
