The PGA Awards heavily influence the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, so can we assume that these ten selections are the frontrunners for Best Picture consideration? What are your thoughts on these nominees? The Tree of Life is certainly a notable exclusion. From memory, it's almost an identical list to the AFI Top 10.
That is certainly a strange list of nominees as there's only 3 picks that I want to win in either Hugo, The Descendants, and Midnight in Paris though I'm not happy that The Tree of Life got snubbed though not entirely surprised. The Help I've kind of expected but Bridesmaids? At least Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close hasn't received any big nods.
ReplyDeleteHeeeyyyy, Senna got a nom. That's nice. I'd swap Bridesmaids for Tree of Life - I just watched it last night. So beautiful.
ReplyDelete@ Steven - I am surprised to see DRAGON TATTOO there but I'll take it. Bridesmaids is a surprise, especially considering that The Tree of Life isn't there. War Horse too. I don't get the fuss over this film.
ReplyDelete@ Ruth - It's a wonderful film. Life-affirming and something we'll be talking about in a decade. Bridesmaids is not.
Oh, and love the inclusion of Senna. It has picked up plenty of awards, despite the Oscar snub.
