  1. I had The Town instead of Winter's Bone...but the Academy obviously loves that film. Bummed Ryan Gosling didn't get a nom, but I wasn't surprised, same with Robert Duvall. I was surprised that Andrew Garfield got snubbed. Not as much love for The Social Network as I was thinking. I am excited to see The Illusionist.

  2. Yeah, well it came from nowhere after winning at Sundance, and Jennifer Lawrence and John Hawkes both deserve their nominations. I was very surprised that Andrew Garfield didn't get a nomination. He was the second best performance in the years best ensemble, and missed out to Renner, who was the best performance on an a solid film that received no other nominations. Doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm surprised at the 12 noms for The King's Speech. It may just win it, with all this love. I still think Black Swan and The Social Network will fight it out, but the lack of noms for Black Swan...no screenplay, and no sound recognition, strikes me as a worry.
As for The Illusionist, a friend of mine said it wasn't that great, but he has much love for Tangled, so maybe more bitter about its exclusion.
