Love for Love and 'Alone Again Or'

The other day a work colleague and I were talking about music and some of our favourite artists. We were talking about The Beatles and The Beach Boys ('Pet Sounds'). Then we started discussing The Kinks, their song 'This Time Tomorrow' and Wes Anderson's wonderful use of their music in his film, The Darjeeling Limited. Then I was asked:

"Do you know the band Love?"

"Yeah, I know Love. 'Forever Changes' is an amazing album. One of my favourites.

"I think 'Alone Again Or' is one of the best songs I have ever heard."

"Yes! Yes it is."

Then it got busy, and we had to go back to our tasks, but it was quite a moment to learn that someone else I know has love for Love. Be sure to check out 'Alone Again Or' here.

  1. Forever Changes is definitely one of the best albums ever made. I kept hearing about the record for years but was afraid to hear it thinking it was going to be some strange, 60s freak-out album. Then I heard "Alone Again Or" on Bottle Rocket. I was like, "what is this?" Then I decided to hear that album and whoa...!!! Definitely a must-have album for any music lover.

    1. Totally. I saw it ranked pretty high on the Rolling Stone list of 500 Albums and figured I should check it out. Alone Again Or was my favourite song on the album - and it instantly became one of my favourites. I haven't even seen Bottle Rocket ;-)

    1. You're most welcome, Anna! It is one of the best songs I have ever heard - and I wish more people our age knew about it, and appreciated it.

  3. Their other album of that time, just called Love, is excellent too. Be careful which CD you get, though, if you want to buy it. For some crazy reason, one of the reissues mixed the drums and bass on the left channel, everything else on the right. Impossible to listen to with headphones...

    1. I assumed they had released more albums, but I was content with Forever Changes (which I own on CD). That's a pretty major screw-up. Thanks for the info Colin.
