Discussing 'The Avengers' on the MatineeCast

This week I was privileged enough to be invited along to be the guest on the MatineeCast, the fantastic podcasting show hosted by Ryan McNeil, who runs The Matinee. Though we live across the world from one another, we got to talking the other morning about all-things film.

The primary focus of Episode 58 was Joss Whedon's monster hit, The Avengers, which makes up a large portion of the discussion, but we also talk about some smaller indie films we are looking forward to amidst this Summer/Winter blockbuster season, and list our top five films starring at least one member from the cast from The Avengers. That was fun.

This was my debut spot on a podcast, so naturally I was a little bit nervous, but I had a blast recording the show (though it is clear I need to speak slower AND get a better mic). I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ryan for being a sensational host and for the consistently impressive work he turns out on his site, and thank him for inviting me along as a guest.

I hope you all enjoy it.

Episode 58 of The MatineeCast, as well as earlier episodes, can be found at The Matinee, but is also available to download on iTunes (as of now). You can follow Ryan on Twitter at @matinee_ca and more behind-the-scenes info on this episode can be found on Twitter by searching out #mat58.

  1. Listening to it now, good stuff man. I remember being pretty nervous for my first podcast too, but after a while of talking film, I was perfectly comfortable.

Sounds like you had a good time, congrats!

    1. Yeah, for the first half I was nervous too. But I relaxed the further we got.

Thanks for listening. It was a lot of fun - and here in Sydney, I am likely going to be further involved in a Podcast series. Recorded one last night, so we'll see how that turns out.

  2. Thanks again for dropping by, and for putting up with my rustiness thanks to almost four weeks away from the mic.

  3. Glad to know I'm not the only one who hasn't seen On the Waterfront. It's one of the more embarrassing omissions in my viewing history.

    1. Yeah. I actually can't remember ever seeing it available to purchase on DVD here. I'll have to seek it out.
