Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life and Mike Mills' Beginners tie for Best Feature Film. The Best Ensemble went to the Beginners trio of Ewan McGregor, Melanie Laurent and Christopher Plummer. Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman and David Cronenberg were presented with career tributes.

Nominees: Independent Spirit Awards
Take Shelter and The Artist are the films that received the most nominations. The two will compete against 50/50, Beginners, Drive and The Descendants for Best Feature. The nominees of the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards were picked by Film Independent, which members include acclaimed filmmakers and movie fans. Movies, to be nomination, must cost less than $20 Million to produce and have uniqueness of vision and material. The Winners will be announced during an afternoon ceremony on February 25, 2012.

Nominees: The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards
The nominees for the Samsung AACTA Awards were announced today for the January 2012 ceremony. The Eye of the Storm (12 nominations), The Hunter (13 nominations), Mad Bastards (4 nominations), Oranges and Sunshine (7 nominations), Red Dog (8 nominations) and Snowtown (10 nominations) were nominated for Best Film.
