Classic Scene: Aliens (James Cameron, 1986)

Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), Newt and the remaining members of the team have decided to seal themselves within the Operations Deck. Hudson (Bill Paxton) and Vasquez (Jeanette Goldstein) have picked up signals of the creatures approaching, and the group have retreated back to fight off their attackers. Hicks (Michael Biehn) and Vasquez begin welding the door.

Hudson (checking his tracker): Movement. Signal's clean. Range: 20 meters.

Ripley: They found a way in. Something we missed.

Hicks (welding the door): We didn't miss anything.

Hudson: 18. 17 meters.

Ripley: Something not in the plans. Under the floor? I don't know.

Hudson: 15 Meters.

Hicks (still welding): Definitely inside the barricades.

Hudson: 13.

Ripley: That's right outside the door. Hicks, Vasquez get back.

Hudson: That's a big fucking signal.

Hicks and Vasquez finish welding the door and retreat back.

Hudson (retreating back with the rest of the group): 12 meters. 11. 10. 9 Meters.

Hicks: Remember, short controlled bursts.

Hudson (looking at the door in horror): 8 meters. 7. 6.

Ripley: That can't be. That's inside the room!

Hudson: It's reading right, man. Look!

Hicks: Well you're not reading it right.

Ripley grabs the tracker to check, and also looks toward the door in horror.

Hudson: 5 meters. 4. What the Hell!

Ripley looks toward the ceiling. Hudson and the rest of the crew realise their mistake.

Hudson: Oh my god!

Hicks: Give me the light.

Hicks pushes up the ceiling panel and shines his light on their very imminent threat.

  1. As much as I dislike the turn towards action Cameron did with this one, there are some brilliant scenes here that being one of them, truly chilling and an obvious homage to the first film.

    1. I have always really liked Cameron's ALIENS, even more than ALIEN, which is somewhat blasphemous. I re-watched ALIEN the other day and it held up beautifully. But, on the afternoon before seeing PROMETHEUS I was after something from ALIENS. Love this scene. "5.4. What the hell!" is my favourite bit. Scared the shit out of me on first viewing.

  2. Ha ha ha! Awesome scene! Suspense to the hilt. Well done. I've always been partial to Vasquez and Gorman going out together not long after.
